Lately I have been really enjoying the reading of Dr. Joe Dispenza. I have known and studied his teaching for nearly 2 years, but have recently started re-reading some of his writings. There is a common theme for what he teaches: by the time we have reached full adulthood, the great majority of us have already wired our brains so that we perform the same actions over and over daily and essentially have set it up so that we live in our past.
One of the quotes I read today really rang my bell: “Every time you go unconscious, you are essentially living in a software program [of your making].” Basically, we spend decades doing the same things over and over again with little change in the routine. As a result, we are sleep walking through life.
I can relate. I have struggled with staying conscious and not falling into old patterns, but I have seen improvements in myself lately.
Start small on your journey to consciousness. Start by paying attention to your breathing, for example. Every time you notice your breath, you are living in the present moment. Keep at it to feel the rewards of the present and not the punishment of the past or the fear of the future.
