A Gentle Reminder

I just got back from a trip with my wife today and we had a “default back to comfort” moment this evening because we wanted things to be easy. Instead of shopping and cooking, we went out to eat. This isn’t really a big deal, but instead of looking for something healthy to eat, I ate like my old self. So, today, I’m writing a letter to myself to remind me of my why. Here goes:

Dear John,

Eating unhealthily is off the menu until you get stronger at your habits of making better food choices. Stuffing your gut with bad things is something that your old self would do. You know that you have so much more to do in life and this kind of behavior is something that will keep you from your dreams. It’s okay to enjoy food, but when you push past being full, you aren’t really appreciating your experience.

This life is fleeting and you want to be as healthy as possible to extend your life span and have quality at the same time.

Reconnect with your dreams and use that fuel to propel you into this coming week and be strong.
